Ahead of the Masters this week Ian Poulter has insisted he will not be seeking any advice from former greats of the game.
It was well documented that last year's winner Charl Schwartzel sought advice from Jack Nicklaus ahead of the major at Augusta before he went on to become an unlikely winner of the prestigious competition.
Three-time winner Nick Faldo has admitted he has not been asked for any counsel regarding the upcoming competition which gets underway on Thursday.
Poulter looked like a doubt for the Masters this year, having come down with pneumonia last month but has recovered in time for the event in Georgia.
The 36-year-old believes his best chance of success in Augusta is to play his own game and hopes it brings about the first major of his career.
Poulter, who is currently ranked at world number 24 said: "It is hard to take advice from someone with a very different game and a very different mindset to you.
"If you try to put yourself into the mindset of someone else you could potentially struggle. I'm not Jack, I'm not Nick Faldo, I'm not Seve, I'm me."
