Showdown, Week 30: Hunter Mahan vs. Brandt Snedeker

So in an attempt to inject a bit more life and interest into tournaments, and because we're all inveterate gamblers who are one bad card from being out on the streets, Jay Busbee and I are playing a golf version of a football suicide pool: We each pick one golfer per tournament and see how they do against each other, straight up. Victory over the other guy gets one point, victory in the tournament gets three points, and a tie lands you half a point. (Double for the majors.) And when we burn a golfer, he's done for the year. We turn our attention to the RBC Canadian Open.
Wall: This feels like a good spot to take Hunter Mahan, who already has two wins this season and hasn't finished outside the top-20 in his last three starts. Plus, Hamilton Golf and Country Club is a tight track where hitting fairways and greens is a must. He currently leads the PGA Tour in ball-striking, ranks ninth in driving accuracy and third in greens in regulation. I think this course should be right in his wheelhouse.
Busbee: I'm taking Brandt Snedeker. I've got a feeling the kid's got a bit of game in him, and he's going to bust out big one of these days ... what? Why are you laughing at me? Nah, of course, after his almost-breakout performance at Royal Lytham, he's primed for a solid followup, and I think he'll have it this week at the RBC Canadian. Unlike Adam Scott, Snedeker fell apart early enough that he may be able to recover without therapy ... and that recovery starts this week.
Last week: Wall picked up two points (majors wins are worth double) last week with a T-3 fromTiger Woods at the British Open. Lee Westwood, Busbee's pick, didn't fare so well at Royal Lytham and St Annes, finishing T-45.
Current score: Wall - 9.0, Busbee - 8.0.
