Nedbank Golf Challenge (72 Holes) 12BET review 12/01 5PM(GMT+8)

For this year’s Nedbank Golf Challenge, 12 of the world’s top golfers will be participating to try and win the coveted trophy. The prestigious tournament will tee off on 1 December 2011 at the famous Gary Player Country Club. The diverse field of professional players, who will be battling it out for total prize money of $5 million, include the 2010 winner.

Denmark’s Thomas Bjørn has had to withdraw from next week’s Nedbank Golf Challenge at Sun City because of a neck injury.
His place in the elite 12-man field will be taken by Italy’s Francesco Molinari.
Bjørn suffered a recurrence of the old injury that also forced him to withdraw from the World Cup of Golf at Mission Hills in China. Francesco and his brother Edoardo are currently representing Italy at the World Cup of Golf.
“We are very disappointed that Thomas will not be joining us at Sun City at the end of one of the best seasons of his career,” said Alastair Roper, the Tournament Director of the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
“Thomas has also conveyed to us how disappointed he is and how much he was looking forward to playing in the Nedbank Golf Challenge, but we completely understand and hope that he recovers soon.”
Molinari, a member of the 2010 European Ryder Cup team who is currently ranked 39th in the world and 23rd on the European Tour’s Race to Dubai, will make his debut in the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
“Francesco is a wonderful player who will definitely bring something special to the Nedbank Golf Challenge,” said Roper. “His brother Edoardo made his debut at Sun City last year, so I’m sure Francesco will be looking forward to it as well.” - http://www.nedbankgolfchallenge.com

AMERICA WIN WORLD CUP

The United  States won the Golf World Cup after a final round of 67 was enough for Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland to capture the title by two strokes from Germany and England.

Starting the foursomes two behind overnight leaders Ireland, Kuchar and Woodland carded six birdies and a bogey at the Mission Hills Resort on Hainan Island to finish 24 under par and lift the trophy for a 24th time.

England enjoyed a strong finish to the tournament as Ian Poulter and Justin Rose returned a 63 that featured an eagle, eight birdies and a bogey to end 22 under, tied for second with Germany, who posted a 69.
Irish duo Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell, meanwhile, could only produce an even-par 72 as they missed out on the last day for the second consecutive time after finishing runners-up to Italy in 2009, their score of 21 under par leaving them in a tie for fourth with Scotland, Holland and Australia.
After ending America's 11-year wait for the title following Tiger Woods and David Duval's victory in 2000, Kuchar told reporters: "When I got selected to represent the United States in the World Cup, I also got to choose my partner, and I knew it was going to be a great honour to come here to play for the United States, and I thought that if I picked the right partner, I'd have a real shot at winning the title.

"And I chose Gary Woodland, thinking that he would team up well with me, we would have the best shot of winning this title, and he played fantastic this week.
"I have no doubt that he was the best player in the field, and for me, it was a lot of riding his coattails, trying to keep encouraging him to keep it going, because he played some great golf.
"And I'm fortunate and really, really excited that I picked him."
Woodland added: "We played phenomenal, especially today.
"It's a tough format, and both of us picked each other up when the other one got in trouble and to go out and shoot, I don't know what we shot today, we got off to a hot start early, played solid on the back and really we were not in trouble in the back at all. It was a good day."

Birdies at the first and second set the Americans on their way as they assumed the lead on the front nine and, after picking up further shots at the sixth and seventh, Kuchar and Woodland had established a strong position by the turn.
Ireland, by contrast, began poorly with a bogey at the first and although McIlroy and McDowell recovered with two birdies, another dropped shot at the sixth again set them back.

However, a birdie at the 10th allied with a bogey at the 11th for the Americans saw the two tied at the top.
That was as good as it got for Ireland, though, as Kuchar and Woodland went on to sink crucial birdies at the 12th and 13th that eventually proved enough for them to triumph.
McDowell and McIlroy, on the other hand, faded as bogeys at the 12th and 15th followed and a birdie at the 16th was only good enough for them to finish fourth.
"We just didn't have it out there today," said McDowell. "We didn't make anything.
"We had two of probably the best breaks we had all year on the two par fives and we made six off both of them. That was really just the story of the day.

"We knew what we had to do today.
"Our target was to go and shoot four under par and that's exactly what we needed to do. We just couldn't get it done."
Poulter and Rose produced the round of the day as they followed up four birdies over the front nine with four more coming back alongside an eagle and a bogey but just fell short of a remarkable comeback and had to settle for second alongside Germany at 22 under.
"I felt like today was a bit about coming out and playing for pride," said Rose.
"You always have pride when you are playing for your country but it was about restoring individual pride for ourselves really.

"Both fourball days were uncharacteristic for us and today was fun. We gelled and finally got the right rhythm and right intensity and I think when we do get that, we match up really, really well."
Poulter added: "Yesterday was disappointing to shoot four under par in fourball and to go and shoot nine under par in foursomes is crazy."
Martin Kaymer and Alex Cejka carded a 61 yesterday but only picked up three birdies in their closing 69 to share second place.
Martin Laird and Stephen Gallacher signed for a 66 containing eight birdies and two bogeys as they ended in a four-way tiefor fourth on 21 under, while Rhys Davies and Jamie Donaldson picked up five birdies to finish fifth, four shots behind the United States.

Hennie Otto leads South African Open by 3 shots after 3 rounds as Els, Goosen stumble

JOHANNESBURG — South Africa’s Hennie Otto shot a 7-under 65 Saturday and took a three-shot lead after three rounds of the South African Open while countrymen Retief Goosen and Ernie Els stumbled.

Otto had seven birdies and an eagle, leaving him at 14 under on Jack Nicklaus-designed the Serengeti course. He is followed by four players — Goosen, Sweden’s Magnus Carlsson and South Africans Thomas Aiken and Garth Mulroy.

Otto is bidding for his second European Tour title and first since the 2008 Italian Open.

“I haven’t won it yet,” he said. “It’s a new day tomorrow.”

Otto has appeared calmer on the course of late after once throwing his clubs into a river during a tournament on the local Sunshine Tour.

“I’m not a guy who gets all nervous,” he said. “Maybe angry, not nervous.”

Goosen, two-time South African Open winner, shot a 71 in a round marked by birdies on the first three holes and bogeys at Nos. 9, 13, 17 and 18.

Els, who last year won the national open for the fifth time, soared to a 76 and is tied for 53rd. He took a nine on the par-5 No. 16 after hitting his tee shot into the water. He was on the green in six and three-putted.

Els was twice forced to step away from his tee shot because of fans taking photos on their cell phones while he was lining up.

“They should ban the guys and get them to hand in their cell phones,” said Otto, his playing partner. “It gets to you.”

Carlsson carded a 66 to put him at 11 under. He was the lone player not from South Africa among the top seven. He needs a top-two finish to keep his tour card for 2012.

“I’m not going to think about it,” Carlsson said. “I’m not going to make stupid decisions.”

Mulroy, who won the Alfred Dunhill Championship last week for his first European Tour title, shot a 68. He recovered from four bogeys in his front nine to make four of his six birdies on the way home.

Second-round leader Steven O’Hara of Scotland shot a 74 and was among those five shots off the lead. - http://www.washingtonpost.com

South African Open Championship 12BET preview European Tour 11/25 12:55(GMT+8)

The 101st South African Open teed off at the Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate on Thursday, with the Executive Mayor of Ekurhuleni, Councillor Mondli Gungubele, hitting the ceremonial first tee shot.

After a few practice swings on the driving range, Councillor Gungubele produced a solid opening drive that even drew praise from the official starter, Ivor Robson.

Robson, the official first tee starter for The Open Championship, then ushered in the start of the championship with the first professional group.

This year’s South African Open has a field including defending champion Ernie Els, Retief Goosen and England’s Simon Dyson, as well as a host of the Sunshine Tour and European Tour’s rising stars. - http://www.southafricanopen.com

Hennie Otto vs Lee Slattery European Tour 12BET 11/24 1:15M GMT+8

The South African Open Championship is one of the oldest national open golf championships in the world, and is one of the principal tournaments on the Sunshine Tour. Since 1997 it has also been co-sanctioned by the European Tour, and as the flagship event on the Sunshine Tour, the tournament also receives special status from the Official World Golf Ranking, with the winner being guaranteed a minimum of 32 points regardless of the strength of the field.

The first formal event was organised in 1903, following a series of exhibition matches that had been held over the preceding ten years. The championship was initially contested over just 36 holes until 1908, when it was extended to become a 72 hole tournament. Although non-whites had played in the South African Open before, most notably when Papwa Sewgolum finished second in 1963, it was not until 1972 that black golfers were allowed to compete.

The South African Open currently takes place at the Serengeti Golf Club in Ekurhuleni in November
Gary Player has been the most successful player in the tournament's history, with 13 victories over four decades between 1956 and 1981. Bobby Locke won nine titles.

Mission Hills World Cup 12BET prediction PGA Tour(72 Holes) 11/24 7:45AM(GMT+8)

After a one-year absence, the $7.5 million Omega Mission Hills World Cup is ready to resume on November 24 at Mission Hills Golf Club on Hainan Island, China. The two-man, now-biennial team event was won in 2009 by Italians Edoardo Molinari and Francesco Molinari in Shenzhen, China.

The field will be comprised of 56 players from 28 countries, with the victorious duo sharing the largest prize in Asian golf, $2.4 million. The format involves 72 holes of stroke play, with alternating rounds of four-ball (best-ball) and foursomes.

Among the top teams entered is Northern Ireland, represented by the past two U.S. Open champions, Graeme McDowell in 2010 and Rory McIlroy this year. The USA team includes Matt Kuchar - fresh off a win in last week's Presidents Cup in Australia - and Gary Woodland.

Other formidable squads include the Germans, with 2010 PGA champion Martin Kaymer and Alex Cejka; Sweden, with Robert Karlsson and Henrik Stenson - who captured the 2008 title; the South Africans with two major champions, 2010 British Open winner Louis Oosthuizen and 2011 Masters champion Charl Schwartzel.

Spain's team also looks strong, with the long-hitting Alvaro Quiros and the crafty veteran, Miguel Angel Jimenez, as does England with Ian Poulter and Justin Rose.

And of course there are the Molinaris, who became the first brother duo to take home the John Jay Hopkins trophy and first Italians to win the Omega Mission Hills World Cup. - http://www.cybergolf.com/

Tiger gets winning point, Couples gets validation

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP)—The winning point for Tiger Woods. A perfect record for Jim Furyk.
And validation for U.S. captain Fred Couples.

The Americans won the Presidents Cup as a team, 19-15, avenging their worst loss ever in any cup competition 13 years ago on a Royal Melbourne course that lived up to its reputation as among the greatest tests in golf.Yet even as they gathered around the gold trophy at the closing ceremony Sunday afternoon, all of them dressed in red shirts and blue blazers, it was hard to ignore the singular achievements.

Couples was criticized in some corners for picking Woods, who had fallen out of the top 50 for the first time in 15 years and had gone two years without winning. Even the International team captain, Greg Norman, said he would have taken PGA champion Keegan Bradley. So perhaps it was only fitting that it was Woods who blasted out of a deep bunker on the 15th hole to within 2 feet to put away Aaron Baddeley and give the Americans the point they needed to win the Presidents Cup.Couples was among the first to greet him, shadow boxing with the guy he called “the best player in the world forever.”

“I’m thankful that he picked me,” Woods said. “Greg is probably not happy about it after I closed out the cup today. But it’s great to be a part of this team. I’m thankful that Freddie believed in me to be a part of this team. This is just a great bunch of guys.”

Woods was solid for five matches, even though he was rewarded with only two points. On another tough day of strong winds and super slick greens, he made six birdies—the most in any of the 12 singles matches—and earned the clinching point for the second straight time.“A lot of people have asked why I picked him and how he was going to play,” Couples said. “Certainly I couldn’t answer how he was going to play, but this week I think he showed to himself that his swing is back and he’s healthy. And that’s more important to me. Obviously, we want to win the cup. But it’s more important for me to have people realize that he can play the game.”- http://sports.yahoo.com

Americans going for 4th straight win

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP)—Ryo Ishikawa and the rest of the International team built leads in five of the opening seven matches Sunday to keep alive slim hopes of a record-tying comeback in the Presidents Cup.
It didn’t take long for Jim Furyk, David Tom, Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker to shore up the back end of the lineup.

The Americans had a 13-9 lead going into the 12 singles matches Sunday, and needed to win five matches—there are no halves until the cup is decided—to win the cup for the fourth straight time.
Ishikawa was the only International player among the first three matches who trailed, and it wasn’t for long. He won the par-3 third hole with a bogey when Bubba Watson, needing two putts to win from the back of the green, putted it onto the fairway and made double bogey. Ishikawa was on his way to an easy win.

Adam Scott also was having as easy time, in large part because of his opponent. Phil Mickelson, undefeated in three matches this week, conceded the first three holes and conceded yet another hole on No. 8 to fall 4 down.
Mickelson bladed a chip from behind the first green and took two shots out of a bunker while trying to match Scott’s birdie. He came up just short on the third, with the Aussie crowd urging it to catch the slope and run back into the fairway.Hunter Mahan gave the Americans hope by dominating Jason Day, who also struggled.
The International team was ahead in the opening four matches—which would eliminate the deficit if they won them all. But the Americans had comfortable leads in the last four matches, starting with Furyk.

Trying to become only the fourth player in Presidents Cup history to go 5-0 for the week, Furyk holed every big putt and took a 4-up lead over Ernie Els at the turn.Toms was 4 up over Robert Allenby, who has lost more matches than anyone in the Presidents Cup and was on the verge of being shutout this week in his hometown of Melbourne.Woods made consecutive birdies to build a 2-up lead over Aaron Baddeley.
The International team’s only win in the Presidents Cup came 13 years ago at Royal Melbourne.
The course was demanding for everyone. In mild temperatures, the wind already was up when the matches began. Such conditions made even 4-foot putts difficult to make, and the International team at least had a big crowd on its side. Some of the grandstands were full some two hours before the matches began.- http://sports.yahoo.com

Woods without a point as American keep the lead

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP)—The Americans kept the lead in the Presidents Cup, and they still don’t have a point from Tiger Woods. In some of the toughest conditions ever at Royal Melbourne, Aaron Baddeley and Jason Day earned a small measure of redemption by holding on to beat Woods and Dustin Johnson on the 18th hole that helped the International team split the six fourball matches Friday. The Americans lead 7-5 going into a double session Saturday with 10 points at stake.

Woods is 0-2 for the first time ever in this event, and the first time in any team competition since he and Phil Mickelson lost their opening two matches at the 2004 Ryder Cup.The state of his game was tough to measure, as was the case with any other player. The wind was vicious. On a sand belt course with fast greens, the most telling statistic was that 13 holes in the six matches were won with pars—a rarity in the better-ball format.

International captain Greg Norman, who knows Royal Melbourne as well as anyone, poured water on the 18th green to drive home just how hard it was. The green repelled the water down the slope, none of it absorbed in the firm turf.“There’s probably nowhere else in the world where that would happen,” Norman said.Norman was mostly impressed with Baddeley and Day. One day after they bogeyed the last two holes and had to settle for a halve, Baddeley came through in the clutch with a tough par on the last hole—right after Woods nearly chipped in for birdie from behind the green—to help keep the International team in the game.
“I was very disappointed yesterday. I feel like I let Jason down,” Baddeley said. “So it was great to come through today and make par on the last hole.”Woods was the only American without a point. His game looks fine. The numbers are shocking.

Tiger Woods trails in foursomes at Presidents Cup

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP)—Tiger Woods, in the same group as former caddie Steve Williams for the first time since their acrimonious split, needs a huge back-nine comeback at Royal Melbourne if he and partner Steve Stricker hope to win their foursomes match at the Presidents Cup.Adam Scott, with Williams on his bag, and partner K.J. Choi had a 5-up lead for the Internationals after nine holes Thursday in the alternate-shot format. The Internationals and Americans were evenly split otherwise, leading in three matches each. Two weeks ago, Williams made a racial slur against Woods at a caddies party in Shanghai. Williams apologized, but their on-course meeting has been one of the most anticipated pairings on the first day of the Presidents Cup.

Woods and Stricker won all four of their foursome or fourball matches at Harding Park in San Francisco two years ago, while Woods was 5-0 overall after winning in singles. Neither player had made a birdie on the front nine Thursday, and Choi missed a five-foot birdie putt on the eighth hole or the damage could have been worse.Woods and Williams shook hands firmly on the first tee after Woods made a point of walking over to Williams and thrusting out his hand. The biggest swing came in the match involving Americans Bubba Watson and Webb Simpson, who were 2 down after three but won three holes in a row to take a 3-up lead over Ernie Els and Ryo Ishikawa after 14 holes.Watson and Simpson, Presidents Cup rookies, looked set to give the Americans the first point of the competition.

Iskandar Johor Open 12BET prediction Asian Tour - (72 Holes) 11/17 7AM(GMT+8)

Iskandar Johor Open
The Iskandar Johor Open is one of the fastest-growing tournaments on the Asian Tour, and has attracted some of the best golfers in the world. The event was successfully staged at the Royal Johor Country Club for the first three years and at Horizon Hills Golf and Country Club in 2010.

It returns to Johor for the fifth time at Horizon Hills, where once again golf fans will be able to witness yet another exciting golf tournament which is staking its claim as one of the top events on the Asian Tour calendar. It reaches a new level on the international golf schedule with its elevation to a co-sanctioned tournament with the Asian and European Tours for 2011.

Iskandar Malaysia and Johor Golf Association are continuing with their support of this event, and have created the biggest international event in Johor. Since the inaugural event in 2007, the prize money for the tournament has increased by five-fold from US$300,000 in 2007 to US$1,250,000 in 2010. In 2011, the prize money will grow to a minimum of US$2,000,000.

Past winners include Artemio Murakami of the Philippines, who won the inaugural event in 2007, and South African Retief Goosen, who took home the prestigious prize in 2008. KJ Choi lifted the coveted trophy in 2009, and Ireland’s Padraig Harrington ended a two-year winless run in 2010 with a very popular win. - http://www.asiantour.com

Fernandez-Castano wins Singapore playoff

Spaniard Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano finally won the long-delayed Barclays Singapore Open after he pipped Philippines’ Juvic Pagunsan to the title by winning at the second play-off hole on Monday.

Both players finished the weather-shortened US$6 million championship, sanctioned by the Asian Tour and European Tour, tied on 14-under-par 199 after the third and final round at the Sentosa Golf Club’s Serapong course.

They hit their second shots onto the fairways at the sudden-death play-off when torrential rains and lighting struck again, leaving the two to resume their battle on Monday.

When play finally resumed, it was the Spaniard who finally got the better of the Filipino who could have delivered the knockout blow had he not missed a short birdie putt at the first play-off hole. After hitting their third shots to within 10 feet of the pin at the second play-off hole, Pagunsan missed his birdie putt while Fernandez-Castano reeled in his to end his three-year title drought. - http://www.iseekgolf.com

PRESIDENTS CUP news 12BET update 11/14

EXCITEMENT BUILDING IN MELBOURNE FOR PRESIDENTS CUP

MELBOURNE, Australia -- A Tiger Woods triumph Sunday at the Australian Open in Sydney would have provided even extra juice, but as they say around here, no worries. Woods appears ready, yet he could not be more anxious for The Presidents Cup than this world-class city, where summer is rolling in, along with two dozen of the best golfers on the planet. Come Thursday, they will play on a spectacular venue, Royal Melbourne, where the Internationals drubbed the United States team in 1998, 20-1/2 to 11-1/2. To those who watched the Americans go down the drain counterclockwise, it did not feel as close as the score indicated.

The Presidents Cup, relatively new but vibrant, is quickly gaining traction as a must-see event although President Obama, due in the country shortly, is otherwise occupied.

"I've been here a while and I can feel the excitement building," said Matt Kamienski, executive director for The Presidents Cup. He has spent 22 months in the area, except for just a couple trips back to mission control headquarters for the PGA TOUR in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. He has not acquired an accent, only a deep appreciation for Royal Melbourne, one of the world's finest courses. It is green, it is immaculate, and it is poised to retain its well-earned reputation as the marquee venue among many of the region's Sandbelt addresses that include Metropolitan, Kingston Heath, Victoria, Huntingdale, Yarra Yarra, Peninsula and Commonwealth. If ever there was a mecca for quality golf, it is here.- http://www.pgatour.com
