After a week off, the PGA Tour heads back out to continue the FedEx Cup Playoffs with the semifinals at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club outside of Chicago. The field has been whittled down to 70 players with the top 30 in the standings after this week advancing to the Tour Championship. Cog Hill #4, commonly known as Dubsdread, is known for its large greens that beg you to three-putt if you land on the wrong side due to many elevation changes. Pin placement can literally make the hole completely different from one day to another. This is one of those places where length certainly doesn’t hurt you but precision with irons to avoid long putts on the big undulating greens is certainly more important. The course played tough last year with nobody finishing in double digits below par and the finishing hole is also the most difficult hole, a 480 yard par 4. Look for the winner this week to be a model of consistency who avoids major disasters and sprinkles in some birdies as opposed to someone who goes out and fires consecutive 62s as we have seen in other tournaments this year. - sportschatplace.com
