Oosthuizen holds Texas lead

Louis Oosthuizen recovered from a torrid start to his third round to take the lead at the Shell Houston Open.

The South African made a poor start to his round on Saturday, with the 2010 Open champion recording two bogeys in each of his first two holes of the day.
However, Oosthuizen managed to keep his composure in Texas and was able to score eight birdies in the penultimate round of the competition to go top of the leaderboard.
The 29-year-old currently holds a two-shot lead over Hunter Mahan and is determined to finish the job on Sunday, in the last event before he heads off to Augusta next week for the Masters.
Oosthuizen admitted it was a difficult start to his third round but was happy with how he reacted to the early set-back. He said: "I had to compose myself, other than that, I hit it well and started making a few putts on the back nine.
"I was driving it well, my iron play the whole week has been really good and I just made some good putts. "The greens here are really fast, which I enjoy. If it's not windy here, you feel like there are a lot of birdies out there."

Pettersson and Cabrera dodge lightning

Carl Pettersson and Angel Cabrera were the clubhouse leaders when bad weather prematurely ended the first round of the Houston Open.

The Swede and Argentinian both carded seven under-par rounds of 65 before lightning forced the players off the course and concluded the day's proceedings with many players still to tee off.
American trio Jeff Maggert, Ricky Barnes and Jim Herman were out early on Thursday and they all signed for a 66 to sit in joint third, while Keegan Bradley was one of four players to post an opening round of 67 at the Texas venue.
Lee Westwood is looking to use the event to fine-tune his game ahead of the Masters and the Englishman looked in decent nick as he completed a four-under par 68 to share 10th place with five other players, while Graeme McDowell managed a two-under par 70.
Ernie Els needs to win the event to qualify for next week's Augusta show-piece and he sits on -1 after completing just two holes of his opening round, while Phil Mickelson was also one-under after three holes.

Manassero feeling confident

 Italian teenager has eyes on home-soil victory

Matteo Manassero says he is in great shape to win his first European Tour title for almost 12 months, when he tees-up in this week's Sicilian Open at Verdura.
The 18-year-old Italian arrives on home soil in good form after his runner-up finish in Andalucia two weeks ago was followed by a tie-for-sixth in Morocco on Sunday.
Manassero, a winner of two Tour titles - the second of these in Malaysia last year - would have qualified for next month's Masters had he won last week but admits he is not too disappointed at missing out.
He told the European Tour's website: "I don't feel like I have missed out on Augusta. I don't have any sadness about not going there because I have a great chance to win in Italy this week.
"And that would be a great achievement. I think everybody would love to win in their home country and I am the same."
As for his chances this weekend, he added: "Last week was a great week and I played some great golf but I made too many bogeys in the final round and Michael (Hoey) played so well that it wasn't to be my week.
"But I have played great in my last two tournaments, so the confidence is there and I feel good about my game, and I am really looking forward to Sicily now."

Sam Torrance insists the game of golf is much better off for having Tiger Woods back winning tournaments.
The former world number one ended his two-and-a-half year wait for a victory on the PGA Tour when he cruised to a five-shot triumph at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last weekend. Torrance - who posted 21 wins on the European Tour during his career - believes a fully-fit and in-form Woods brings an added dimension to the sport. However, the Scot is of the opinion that the 36-year-old will never again be the kind of domineering presence that he became at the very peak of his powers a few years ago.
"I want to see him back winning majors, it's much more exciting when he's playing and playing well," Torrance told Sky Sports. "There's no question about that, just because of who he is and what he's done. "But I don't think he has the fear factor anymore, I don't think the players are as scared of him as they were ten years ago. "At the beginning of the 90s the golf he was playing was just... (holds hands up) 'hands up, you've got it pal, carry on'. But now they're very strong, his competition now is much stronger. But I would never write off Tiger."

Rose up to seventh

Englishman jumps 15 places after securing WGC glory

Europe now have five players in the top seven of the world rankings after Justin Rose's win in the WGC-Cadillac Championship in Miami.
Rose jumped from 22nd to seventh after his victory at Doral while the top four players, all Europeans, held their places.It means Rory McIlroy is world number one for the second week running, with Luke Donald second, Lee Westwood third and Martin Kaymer fourth.McIlroy strengthened his position at the top by finishing in solo third at Doral, where Donald was tied sixth, Westwood tied 29th and Kaymer tied 20th.
Steve Stricker is the highest ranked American at five while Masters champion Charl Schwartzel moved up from ninth to sixth after he took a share of fourth at Doral.Dustin Johnson has fallen out of the top 10 - dropping from eighth to 12th - after finishing tied 35th.George McNeill, who won the other PGA Tour event played last week, improved from 106th to 70th after his two-shot win in the Puerto Rico Open. - http://www1.skysports.com/

England's Tommy Fleetwood is on target to complete one of the most unlikely doubles in golf after claiming a share of the lead in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Fleetwood won the Kazakhstan Open earlier this month, with the first prize of €64,000 taking him top of The Challenge Tour rankings and securing his place on The European Tour for 2012.

But the 20 year old can win almost ten times that amount with victory at St Andrews on Sunday after storming into contention with a superb 63 at Kingsbarns.
