DOUBLE DISAPPOINTMENT FOR HORSEY
David Horsey saw his Hong Kong Open bid falter after a double bogey at the 18th left the 26-year-old four behind leader Alvaro Quiros midway through his second round.
Having ended yesterday in a three-way tie for the lead alongside Quiros and Rory McIlroy on six under par, Horsey soon improved to seven under with a birdie at the 12th, his third hole of the day.
However, the Stockport golfer gave the shot back at the 15th before a disappointing six at the 18th saw him slide to four under as he reached the turn in 37.
Quiros, meanwhile, moved into sole possession of the lead as three birdies over the back nine saw the Spaniard move to nine under par.
However, a bogey at the first checked his progress and he sat two ahead of McIlroy, who was due to begin his second round later, through 10 holes.
Australian Darren Beck was at five under par following two birdies and a bogey in 13 holes, and he was alongside Miguel Angel Jimenez, with the Spaniard even par for his day after 12 holes.
Frenchman Gregory Havret and Australia's Marcus Fraser stood level with Horsey on four under through eight and 12 holes respectively while Northern Irishman Gareth Maybin was three under thanks to a hole-in-one at the fourth. - http://www.sportinglife.com
